M2M-CTS 2012 : International Workshop on M2M Communication ...

INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON M2M COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES AND SYSTEMS

24 October 2012 - Wuxi/China

In conjunction with the

3rd International Conference on the Internet of Things 2012 (IoT'12)
(http://www.iot2012.org)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Objectives:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Machine-to-machine communication (M2M) will have a fundamental impact on
many different industries and businesses and represents a key enabling
technology for the emerging Internet of Things and Services (IoTS).
By enabling all kinds of smart objects, such as intelligent sensors and
actuators, to communicate and interact with each other across different
networks and domains, a plethora of new services and applications may be
created, thus bearing the potential to create substantial new markets and
revolutionize existing ones. In order to fully exploit this potential, a
close collaboration is required between academia, the traditional telecom
industry as well as other industries that were not so present in this
arena in the past, but which will be among the main beneficiaries of M2M
and the IoTS in future since they are providing the ?Things? for the
Internet of Things.

The goal of this workshop is to bring all these players together and to
foster a better common understanding, provide valuable networking
opportunities and exchange latest research results. The workshop will be
held in conjunction with the ?Internet of Things 2012? conference (IoT?12)
? a premier event for industry and academia exclusively dedicated to the
IoTS and associated technologies ? and will comprise a keynote speech by
a leading expert (to be confirmed), a panel session as well as
cutting-edge research presentations.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scope:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The organizing committee solicits original submissions that present new
research results, future directions, works-in-progress, working prototypes
or hands-on experience dealing with at least one of the following topics:

* Transmission technologies and protocols
* System and network architecture
* IETF-related activities (CoRE, 6LoWPAN, etc.)
* M2M middleware (SOAP, REST, etc.)
* 3GPP machine-type communication
* Naming & addressing
* Quality-of-service, reliability, scalability, etc.
* Short-range wireless communications
* Standardization and regulatory issues
* Interworking protocols and mechanisms
* Channel and traffic models
* Mobility & resource management
* Self-configuration & self-optimization
* Field tests, demos & prototype implementations
* M2M requirements & practical constraints
* Open research challenges and future directions

Submission Guidelines:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prospective authors are invited to submit original technical papers that
have not been published before and that are currently not under review
elsewhere. All submissions should be written in English with a maximum
paper length of eight (8) printed pages (10-point font). Only PDF files
generated based on the standard IEEE conferences template will be accepted,
which should be submitted through EDAS (http://edas.info/12849).

The authors of selected high quality papers will be invited to submit
extended versions of their work for publication in special issues
exclusively dedicated to M2M of Wiley's Transactions on Emerging
Telecommunications Technologies (ETT) as well as Hindawi's Journal of
Electrical and Computer Engineering. Furthermore, all accepted and
presented papers will be published in the IoT?12 workshop proceedings and
submitted for possible inclusion to EI Engineering Index (Compendex).
