Puroresu

roleplay/fiery-friday-night-fury-puroresu/

RP Theme

'Puroresu' Is the Japanese version of American Pro-Wrestling, like the WWE, although taken more seriously, and considered 'full contact,' nothing being fake, or staged. It's an interesting little battle of sport, using both wrestling submissions and Martial Arts techniques, turning it into a more UFC styled fight, but more spectacular to the eye of a viewer. Again, Puroresu is taken more seriously, considered a real sport. American wrestling has real pain, but they still unfairly choose who ought to win rather than who's truly better, and Puroresu cares less about manipulating the match for the story alone, and, for the few that have storylines and arcs, are able to work with constantly changing outcomes. The popularity of the sport has Men's Leagues, Women's leagues, and even leagues for children under 18! Don't worry, bigger, stronger wrestlers know where to stop.

Image

Battle with Superhuman abilities, find your allies, enemies, maybe even lovers, as you work your way to the championship belt, and defeat the mysterious japanese titleholder, Khanman, as well as his Yakuza family, and fellow 'evil' wrestlers, the 'Satsujinkara,' all while doing body slams and throwing out some punches, talking to others outside the ring, hanging out, or doing whatever it is you kids do these days.

Welcome to Triple F:

With over the top attacks and abilities like?

A Football Touchdown?!

Or a Magnetic Clothesline?!

This Ninjutsu Spiderweb?!

-

Common Abilities: (Just about every wrestler should have one or two of these. You are NOT limited to these powers, these are just basic things so every wrestler can put up a good fight, and one power is never stronger than the other. Feel free to have something unique to your character if you want!)

Burning Inner Strength: An ability one must earn, in which they gain an unbeatable fighting spirit, and iron willpower, boosting their power a bit to become stronger! a truly, fiery resolve...

Super Agility and Strength: Every wrestler is capable of leaping high into the air, even while holding an opponent, and perform high damage attacks with amazing strength. This agility however also depends on the weight of the two wrestlers.

Martial Arts Techniques: There are so many martial arts, that there could be many, killer moves to be used in the field of battle, some even supernatural in nature.

Weapons: not an ability, but a few weapons can be used in the ring. You must either have had it the entire time, or find it near the ring. If they gain the weapon from as far as the audience seats, or receive it from an outside party, it is illegal. It can range from sledgehammers and folding chairs to kendo swords and claw gauntlets.

(For female characters, here's a whole bunch of pictures you can use: http://ryonaikusei.x.fc2.com/wrestleang ... or2_1.html just right click each square and choose 'open in new window.' if you don't, then there won't be a URL link.)

2011 ACC Football Wrap Up and Final Grades.

Mercifully the ACC football season has come to end, and what a terrible end it was. The ACC finished the bowl season 2-6, and fell to 2-13 in BCS games after Virginia Tech was defeated by Michigan in the Sugar Bowl and Clemson was humiliated by West Virginia in the Orange Bowl .

There are some folks that feel these results are fairly meaningless outside the context of their individual team. @Younglefhander wrote a well thought out piece titled ?Put that conference banner away? that describes just that. We chatted on twitter about this, and I?m one the other side of the fence about rooting for your conference. Yes I have my personal favorite teams, just look at my profile. I agree you root for your team first, but I believe the national perception of a conference can affect at least in part the performance and status of the individual teams.

Do you think the huge television contracts the Pac 12 and SEC get happen by magic? Why is the SEC given the benefit of the doubt when Alabama loses and they still get two teams in the national title game? There are a small percentage of recruits that will decide to play at a given school because they want to face the perceived best competition in the country or they want to be in a conference that?s considered higher profile than the ACC. Flawed thinking, I agree, but it does happen.

Now I would say you can?t make snap judgments based on a handful of non-conference games, but the ACC?s struggles have been going on for years. Sadly sometimes perception is reality. I know this better than most because as a Georgia Tech fan myself, Georgia very much has a mental edge in that rivalry due to dominating the series over the last decade. I feel confident in saying when a non-conference opponent plays an ACC team, they aren?t intimidated.

Do they always win no, but with each passing year of non-conference struggles the hill gets a little harder to climb. Oh last thought after the 0-2 BCS performance you can bet if there?s another 11-2 or even 11-1 ACC team out there that doesn?t?win the ACC, they aren?t getting a BCS At-large bid and it might just be the team you root for. There you go root for your conference or not? You have two different thoughts on the topic?

Ok Final Grades. Same classes as before when we handed out grades before Final Exams. Only an A will move you up a class, and only F will move you down. Hey I?m giving out the grades!

Advanced Class ? Pre-season ACC Championship contender, 10+ wins

Intermediate Class- Pre-season Bowl Team, 6-9 wins

Beginner Class ? Just looking for improvement, no bowl was predicted

Advanced Class

Virginia Tech, Florida State

Virginia Tech (11-3) Final Grade ? B+

When you win 11 games like the Hokies did, it?s still a pretty good season. The year did end with another BCS loss. This time it was Michigan in the Sugar Bowl. Not sure if the Hokies will ever get over the hump.

Florida State (9-4) Final Grade ? B-

The Noles are one of the few ACC teams that ended the season on a positive note with a Bowl win over Notre Dame and victory over arch rival Florida. Good finish to year that didn?t quite meet expectations. Go find a running game Noles.

Intermediate Class

Clemson, Georgia Tech, Maryland, NC State, Boston College, North Carolina, Miami

Clemson Tigers (10-4) Final Grade ? A-

ACC Champions deserve an A in the intermediate class, but the Orange bowl performance was absolutely disgraceful and embarrassing. Next year they move up to the advanced class.

Georgia Tech (8-5) Final Grade ? B-

Georgia tech slightly exceeded expectations, but letting a 14 point 4th quarter lead against Utah slip away put a damper on the season, and there was yet another loss to a Georgia Bulldog squad that didn?t beat one quality team other than the Jackets themselves.

Maryland (2-10) Final Grade ? F

Wait I think someone else just transferred from Maryland. Terps going back to the training wheels class.

NC State (8-5) Final Grade ? B

No team earned more final grade points than NC State. In fact given how most of the rest of the ACC did in bowl season, I?m giving them a solid B after their Belk Bowl win over Louisville. They could be a darkhorse Atlantic team next year.

Boston College (4-8) Final Grade ? D+

BC is the kid struggled and fought so hard, but you just can?t give a passing grade too. They did beat Miami the final week of the season, but there were just too many flunked quizzes during the course of the season.

North Carolina (7-6) Final Grade ? C-

If BC was the kid you wanted to pass but couldn?t, then UNC was the kid you wanted to fail but had to pass. That 41-24 bowl game loss to Missouri was about as passionless as a team could play.

Miami?(6-6) Final Grade ? D+

I debated whether Miami deserved at least a C but if you can?t get by BC at home you don?t. This team would show so much potential at times and so much disinterest at others.

Beginner Class

Virginia, Duke, Wake Forest

Virginia (8-5) Final Grade ? A

A couple late season losses to Virginia Tech and Auburn doesn?t keep Virginia from getting an A in a season that included wins over Florida State, Miami, and Georgia Tech.

Wake Forest (6-7) Final Grade ? B

If Wake Forest had been able to beat Vanderbilt or Mississippi St. in their bowl, I may have been able to give them an A. I just couldn?t, but still very few people thought the Deacs could win more than 3 or 4 games.

Duke (3-9) Final Grade ? C-

Just sit the corner Duke and try not to disturb the other students.

Miami Dolphins talking points: Coaching search leaves everyone in football office in limbo ? including Jeff Ireland

A trio of Dolphins talking points as we dig for more news on the coaching search:

1. Coaching search leaving everyone in Dolphins? football office in limbo ? all the way to the top.

When the regular season ended in St. Louis, Tampa Bay and Jacksonville and their head coaches were fired, the assistant coaches quickly learned their fate, too. The decision-makers for all three teams quickly and decisively fired all of the assistants shortly after dismissing the head coaches (except for Jacksonville interim coach Mel Tucker).

The coaches in Miami, however, don?t have that luxury. They?re currently stuck in limbo because their owner hasn?t decided on a head coach, and hasn?t decided how many assistant coaches, if any, will return next year.

Since they haven?t been told anything, the coaches must sit and wait and watch TV for updates like the rest of us. But that?s not all too uncommon ? the assistant coaches in Kansas City are going through the same thing.

What is uncommon, though, is that the Dolphins? general manager also doesn?t quite know his fate. Jeff Ireland should be back with the Dolphins in 2012, as Steve Ross promised in a news conference four weeks ago, but nothing right now is certain.

According to a report yesterday by NFL Network?s Jason LaCanfora, former Chiefs president and long-time Ross confidant Carl Peterson is spearheading the effort to recruit Jeff Fisher to Miami. Peterson was on the helicopter with Fisher yesterday and spent four hours pitching the job to him, although Ross and Ireland were involved with the process.

And according to the report, if the Dolphins land Fisher, then ?not only could Peterson take a team president position, but Ireland?s status might end up in doubt, with Peterson considering bringing several of his former personnel people with him to Miami from Kansas City.?

But if Fisher doesn?t come on board, and the Dolphins hire one of Ireland?s candidates, then ?there?s little chance Peterson has a role with the team.?

So Peterson will be involved with the Dolphins this offseason ? or he won?t. Ireland will be the general manager ? or he won?t.

Not many people in the building ? including Ross ? seem to know those answers right now.

2. All?s quiet on the coaching search.

A few early names emerged in the Dolphins? coaching search on Monday, the first day of the search ? Todd Bowles, Fisher and Dave Toub.

Where will the Dolphins go after interviewing those three? That?s anyone?s guess, as the Dolphins are being very hush-hush about their list of candidates.

That?s not the case in Jacksonville, where the list of the Jaguars? candidates made its way to the Florida Times-Union ? Mike Mularkey, Bill O?Brien, Mike McCoy, Rob Chudzinski and Brian Schottenheimer.

Same with the Bucs? list of candidates, which according to the Tampa Bay Times includes Mike Sherman, Jerry Gray, Fisher and Mularkey.

But the Dolphins under Ireland have put a premium on privacy, and so far they?re doing a good job of keeping their coaching wish list a secret. After Bowles, Fisher and Toub, no one in the local or national media has gotten word about who will be interviewing next. And don?t expect many real leaks about the coaching search until the process is nearly complete.

3. Steve Ross is learning.

When Ross flew to California last January to interview Jim Harbaugh, he was shocked at the level of intensity in which the media covered the event, particularly the live tracking of his private plane on the internet.

?I felt like Santa Claus being tracked,? he joked a couple months later.

The way Ross is conducting his search this year makes it look like he learned his lesson.

Ross? private plane returned back north to the New York area on Monday. Usually, wherever the plane goes, Ross goes with it. Except this week.

The Dolphins don?t appear to be using Ross? plane to bring candidates down here. Instead, Fisher and other candidates are flying to South Florida and being transported to the Dolphins? training facility in Ross? private helicopter, which can?t be tracked on the internet.

Of course, it won?t stop reporters from snooping around and trying to figure out who this team is interviewing. But it?s a sign that Ross is getting serious about his privacy.

Obama bypasses Senate to fill labor board posts

(AP) ? President Barack Obama recess-appointed three members to the National Labor Relations Board on Wednesday, bypassing fierce opposition from Republicans who claim the agency has leaned too far in favor of unions.

The appointments came just hours after Obama used a similar move to install former Ohio Atty. Gen. Richard Cordray to head the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Both moves infuriated GOP leaders, who threatened legal action and warned that Obama was setting a dangerous precedent by ignoring the will of Congress. Union leaders praised the decision, saying it was a legitimate response to Republican gridlock.

Obama appointed Deputy Labor Secretary Sharon Block, union lawyer Richard Griffin and NLRB counsel Terence Flynn to fill vacancies on the five-member board, giving it a full contingent for the first time in more than a year. Block and Griffin are Democrats, while Flynn is a Republican.

The board, which referees labor-management disputes and oversees union elections, has been a prime target for Republicans and business groups since it filed a controversial lawsuit last year that accused Boeing of illegally retaliating against union members.

That case was dismissed last month after Boeing and the union settled their differences. But Republicans are still incensed over the board's approval last month of sweeping new rules to speed up the union election process, making it easier for unions to gain new members.

Obama's action prevents the board from losing much of its power for the rest of the year. The NLRB is supposed to have five members, but it has operated for months with only three. This week, it is down to just two members, after Democrat Craig Becker completed his term. The agency is not allowed to conduct regular business with only two members.

Senate Republicans, hoping to effectively shut the agency down, had vowed to block any more appointees to prevent any further key decisions affecting labor relations. Last month, all 47 Senate Republicans sent Obama a letter warning that bypassing the Senate would set a dangerous precedent.

Obama, in a prepared statement, said the nation deserves "to have qualified public servants fighting for them every day ? whether it is to enforce new consumer protections or uphold the rights of working Americans."

Labor unions, a bedrock of Democratic political support in this election year, had been pushing the White House to fill the seats.

"Some Republican members of the Senate have made a determined effort to cripple the NLRB and other government agencies by refusing to act on President Obama's nominees, no matter how qualified," said James Callahan, president of the International Union of Operating Engineers. "Leaving the NLRB without a quorum would penalize both labor and employers."

Wyoming Sen. Mike Enzi, top Republican on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, called the White House move a sign of "its contempt for America's small businesses."

"The president has ignored the Senate's confirmation and vetting process, ensuring that our struggling economy will soon be faced with two additional bureaucrats who will shackle America's employers with new onerous regulations," Enzi said.

Obama's announcement of the new NLRB members came without fanfare in an afternoon press release. By contrast, Obama trumpeted his appointment of Cordray earlier in the day at a speech in Ohio, where he chastised Congress for standing in the way of consumer protection.

Block is deputy secretary for congressional affairs at the Labor Department. Griffin is currently the general counsel for the International Union of Operating Engineers. Flynn serves as chief counsel to the NLRB's other Republican member Brian Hayes.

Flynn's nomination has been pending for a year, but Block and Griffin were just nominated in December.

Cuba criticizes Twitter for Fidel death rumor

State media on Wednesday accused the social networking site Twitter of helping spread a rumor that former Cuban leader Fidel Castro had died, and criticized anti-Castro expatriates it dubbed "necrophiliac counterrevolutionaries" for jumping on the story.

An article on the state-run Cubadebate Web site accused Twitter of allowing an account holder with the sign-on "Naroh" to start the rumor on Monday from an Italian server, possibly after it was taken over by a "robot." It says the account was then quickly deactivated.

It said Twitter then helped spread the disinformation by allowing the hash tag "fidelcastro" to become a trending topic. It briefly became the fourth most popular in the world as it drew many more people to the subject.

The site also accused Twitter of censoring subjects in the past that were in favor of the Cuban government.

A Twitter spokesperson, Jodi Olson, said the company had no comment on the specifics of Cuba's complaint, but added "as you know, we don't mediate content." Rumors that a celebrity or other public figure is dead are common on social media sites and can spread quickly because of their nature.

"Naroh," whose account was in active use on Wednesday, was one of many users to retweet messages about Castro's death. He and others were posting other, mostly sarcastic, messages about the rumor at the same time.

Related: False reports of Fidel Castro's death spread on Twitter

The account's owner lists his name as "Naroh ? David Fdez," and his biography identifies him as a 20-year-old living "between Asturias and Madrid" in Spain.

Reached via Twitter on Wednesday, the owner of the account reacted with shock and amusement. "Obviously I didn't start anything," he tweeted back to an AP reporter. Asked which of his tweets may have gotten Havana's attention, he said he had no idea, that his posts were jokes and that the topic was already trending when he got involved.

He then tweeted to his followers, in Spanish: "Cuba is blaming me for killing Fidel Castro on Twitter. Can I now consider myself a Twit-star?"

Cubadebate also blamed anti-Castro expatriates anxious to see Castro's demise for gleefully furthering the rumor, saying "necrophiliac counterrevolutionaries, aided by some media, immediately started to party."

Castro, 85, turned power over to his brother Raul in 2006 during an illness that nearly killed him. He is officially retired, though he occasionally publishes opinion columns.

In recent months, Castro has alluded to the limits of age, but has also taken pride in his longevity. Cuba boasts that along with besting the actuarial tables, the former Cuban leader has survived hundreds of assassination attempts at the hands of his enemies in the United States.

Cubadebate noted that a false story about Castro's demise was spread on the Internet and elsewhere back in August. On that occasion, there was even a computer virus embedded in a spam email titled "Fidel is Dead," which featured a doctored, grainy photograph of the former Cuban leader that appeared to show him lying in a coffin.

As usual, the Cuban government has declined to make any official comment about Castro's health. But the former leader hasn't been silent. On Dec. 31, he sent a get-well letter to a Cuban baseball star that was read over state television.

Cubadebate on Wednesday reiterated a refrain it used the last time the Castro rumors began, saying that the latest hubbub was spread by "people inventing things in the virtual world that even the CIA could not accomplish in real life."
